This project in 20 seconds
A fresh new look for a long-standing maintenance client in Sevenoaks. We’ve completely rejuvenated this border, improving the soil, refreshing the planting scheme, and creating a lush, textural display that will only get better with time.
The project
Over the years, we’ve worked closely with this client to maintain and enhance their garden, and this winter, it was time to give the front border a complete overhaul.
The area was fully cleared and reconditioned, with organic matter and fertiliser added to improve soil health and structure.
Once prepared, we introduced a bold mix of evergreen texture and seasonal interest – including:
– Dicksonia antarctica (tree ferns) to provide architectural height and a tropical feel.
– Fatsia japonica and Pittosporum for evergreen structure and glossy foliage.
– Agapanthus for vibrant summer blooms.
– Epimedium and Tiarella to add soft groundcover and seasonal flowers beneath the ferns.
– Pachysandra for reliable low-level greenery.
– Matteuccia (ostrich ferns) and Eremurus (foxtail lilies) to bring a sense of drama and movement.
This carefully balanced planting scheme creates year-round texture and interest, with a focus on foliage contrast, layering, and resilience.
The result
The transformation has already brought new life to the space – and as the plants establish, it will develop into a lush, vibrant border that complements the character of the property beautifully.
We can’t wait to see how this planting matures through the seasons.
