This project in 20 seconds
This project completely redefined the entrance to a Maidstone property, replacing an old, uneven path and dated gate with a sleek porcelain walkway and bespoke timber entrance.
By combining modern materials with thoughtful planting, we created an inviting, durable, and stylish approach that enhances both the home’s kerb appeal and daily usability.
The Challenge
The homeowners wanted to improve the entrance to their property by replacing an old, narrow pathway and tired gate.
The existing setup was worn and uneven, detracting from the smart appearance of the house. They were looking for something modern, robust, and welcoming – a first impression that matched the quality of their home.
The Cowen Landscapes Solution
Our team began by carefully removing the existing path and preparing the ground for a fresh start. The design evolved as the project progressed, with a focus on simplicity and strong lines to suit the symmetry of the house.
We installed a new, straight, wide pathway using large-format grey porcelain paving slabs, chosen for their clean, contemporary look and long-lasting durability. Each slab was meticulously levelled to ensure a perfectly smooth finish, creating a safe and elegant walkway leading directly to the front door.
At the property boundary, we built a bespoke wooden gate, crafted for both strength and style. The design included a secure lock and integrated letterbox, with posts concreted in place for lasting stability. The natural wood complements the red brick façade beautifully, offering a warm contrast to the cool tones of the porcelain paving.
To complete the transformation, we installed neat lawn edges and planted rows of lavender along both sides of the new path. As these mature, they’ll soften the lines of the paving, adding texture, fragrance, and a timeless English garden feel to the modern entranceway.
The Result
The finished project has completely elevated the front of the property. The new path is wide, level, and practical, offering a clear and elegant route from gate to door. The solid timber gate provides a secure yet stylish boundary, while the lavender planting brings movement and seasonal interest throughout the year.
What began as a functional improvement evolved into a full entrance redesign that combines structure, softness, and long-term durability – a perfect example of how thoughtful landscaping can transform the everyday experience of arriving home.
