The garden at this property had plenty of potential, but it lacked a defined area for dining and entertaining. The client wanted a large, welcoming space that complemented the character of their home while also being durable and low-maintenance.

The build and materials

- Natural stone paving: The main terrace was laid in warm-toned natural stone slabs, chosen for their elegance, durability, and slip resistance.
- Herringbone brick inset: A central brick panel in a herringbone pattern was introduced beneath the dining table area, giving the terrace a distinct focal point and breaking up the stone surface beautifully.
- Framed edges: The stone was neatly edged with brick, creating crisp boundaries that tied the design together and linked it visually with other garden elements.
- Pergola and planters: A painted pergola and surrounding planting softened the hard landscaping and added height, texture, and shade to the dining space.
- Lawn integration: The terrace opens directly onto fresh lawn and tree planting, ensuring the hard landscaping feels connected with the wider garden rather than separate from it.
