A Cherry Tree, Woodland Pansy, Bottle Brush Tree, colourful Lupins, an array of grasses, perennials a selection of “tasty” herbs and beautiful lush green grass – stunning! Matt and Zane were always happy and nothing was ever a problem, I would highly recommend Cowen Landscapes.
Our garden was a complete mess after we had three huge trees and a massive Thuga fir “hedge” removed. Having looked on the internet for a good and reliable landscape company, we decided to approach Cowen Landscapes. The reviews were excellent and they are a local firm which we preferred to use as it us alwsys good to support local businesses.
Matt Harvey came along to discuss our requirements and to measure up. We needed to have the old patio removed and replaced with a larger and better quality patio plus we wanted a garden pond to attract frogs and newts plus a small Japanese Garden feature. Matt very quickly provided a detailed estimate which we thought was very reasonable and agreed fir work to proceed.
With regards scheduling the timing of the work to be done, the weather in the early part of 2024 completely threw everything off plan snd caused a 2 month delay. That said, the team came on site on 23rd October and worked full time for 8 weeks finishing the garden on 18th December. The weather was overall more settled during that period which was great and we are absolutely thrilled with our new garden.
The team were brilliant as their knowledge and expertise in thinking around possible problems couldn’t be faulted and they discussed solutions with us which proved to be absolutely right and the results were fantastic. The standard of work was extremely high and their skills were above and beyond expectation.
Matt regularly visited the site to ensure progress was going to plan and again was extremely helpful in advising and discussing unforeseen problems. He was happy to accommodate extra jobs that were not included in the original quotation such as replacing one of our fences and painting an existing fence. All materials used were of the highest quality and the team and Matt certainly take great care and pride in their work.
We would not hesitate to recommend Cowen Landscapes and despite the delay in work starting, it was well worth the wait. The completed garden has exceeded our expectations and gives us great pleasure every single day. It has been very well worth the expenditure as it now is a place of pure enjoyment and fully complements the house.
Our front and back garden was landscaped between February and June 2024. The project was complex with different trades throughout. There was the added pressure from bad weather at the beginning of the year, which the team took in their stride. A big shout out to all the team at Cowen who were a pleasure to work with over this at times stressful long period. We felt so confident in their abilities and their attention to detail was appreciated. I would like to thank Matt and his hardworking team for creating a garden we will treasure for years to come and have no hesitation in recommending them.
Matt and his team have done a super-professional job building a ragstone retaining wall, stone steps and brick path in our garden. The quality of the workmanship, attention to detail and overall finish are all incredibly high quality. We were also really impressed by the care the team took to leave the site clean and tidy at the end of each day.

Cowens have assisted me with my garden for some years now.
Their staff are helpful, knowledgeable and have input their own ideas into developing my garden.
In particular they have worked very hard on my large, old, much loved Wisteria which is now thriving.
Matt and his team have undertaken 3 projects for us; one an ornamental vintage appearance patio incorporating 2 millstones, another more traditional patio, and a boundary hedge and fencing replacement. We have been delighted with each project and it was a pleasure working with Matt and his team. We would recommend him.
